Screw and assembly pastes for manufacturing and maintenance
Pastes offer invaluable help in plant engineering and for maintenance. Using a suitable paste saves costs. If the right one is selected, it will enhance functional reliability when assembling and removing screw-threaded connections. Pastes are especially suitable for pressing in pins and bolts and for lubricating gear wheels or slideways.

Which paste for which application?
How do the different pastes differ from one another and what effect do they have on individual applications? There are suitable screw pastes or assembly pastes for every use. The solid lubricant type and content determine their essential properties and, consequently, the paste’s purpose. An assembly paste produces a lubricating effect only while screw pastes are known for their lubricating and separating effect.
As a general rule, pastes are particularly suitable for:
- Screw-threaded connections (screw pastes)
- Pressing in pins and bolts (assembly pastes)
- Lubrication/run-in lubrication for gear wheels or slideways (assembly pastes).
TIP! Unlike grease, a paste is generally not suitable for lubricating rolling bearings.
Use of screw pastes
Screw pastes ensure reliable, functionally safe screw installation. Even after a long fastening time or aggressive operating conditions, these screws can be easily removed again without needing to destroy them. We recommend using high-temperature screw pastes for long operating times, especially under aggressive operating conditions. These pastes will prevent screw-threaded connections from corroding and becoming permanently stuck.
Use of assembly pastes
Assembly pastes are used for press-fitting work during manufacture, pressing in bearings, shafts and bushings, for slideways on machine tools and as a run-in lubricant for slideways and gears subjected to high mechanical stress loads.
GOOD TO KNOW! The structure of pastes basically corresponds to that of greases. The key difference lies in a significantly higher proportion of solid lubricants in the pastes. This ensures a reliable lubricating, separating and corrosion protection effect. This is also the case when pastes are used under extreme temperature and pressure conditions and with aggressive media. You will find more detailed information on pastes and their technical specifications under Pastes.
