Electrically-driven vehicle lifts are located in most workshops in which maintenance work is carried out on vehicles. Depending on the vehicle size, vehicle lifts consist of different numbers of jackscrews which are driven synchronously by one motor each. In order to prevent damage to the individual jackscrews through a high degree of friction and thus to the drive motors through excessive current, these motors are equipped with overload cut outs which stop the motor immediately when a mechanical overload occurs. Correct lubrication of the jackscrews is thus a major factor in ensuring fault-free operation of the vehicle lifts.
Since the beginning of this year the "Egyptian Maintenance Company", responsible for the complete technical service of the trams in Cairo, has been using OKS 495 for the jackscrews used during maintenance work on the trams.
OKS 495 is a highly adhesive grease with black solid lubricants and high-pressure and wear protection additives. In addition to the high base oil viscosity, special adhesive additives ensure that OKS 495 is not pushed away from the lubricating point. The high share of solid lubricants ensures sufficient and reliable lubrication even under extreme conditions. OKS 495 can be used in a temperature range of -30 °C to 200 °C.
